Luca was a lumberjack for Halloween. Cutest one I've ever seen!

Grandma and grandpa Nye bought Luca a coat. It's a little big, but doing the trick. It has been colder here than it has been in a long time! The inversion made it cold and foggy. Anyone who knows me, knows I am a fan of heat and sun!

This car was a present from Aunt Haley and Uncle Sean. Luca liked it at first, but he is now afraid to go inside it. Luca's little face peeking out is adorable.

Luca enjoyed the wrapping just as much as the presents.

It has been a long time! Things have not been going too well for us. I have a long list I could whine about, but won't because it is no fun to be a downer! Luca turned one on the 26 of Dec., but I don't have any pics because they are on my mom's camera and haven't remembered to retrieve them. I tried not to put too many pics on so as not to overwhelm anyone. Next I'll post the pics of Luca in his boots. Luca loves wearing them and will bring them to you to put them on.

Luca is all boy! He doesn't like to sit still, AT ALL! At the store he likes to walk and push the cart himself. Luca is also not very shy and hasn't shown signs of separation anxiety yet. In fact, he cries less with other people. He will talk and laugh with anyone. I am going to have to keep my eye on him. Paul was that way when he was young. Of course I don't remember what Paul was like at 13 months, but I remember when we were kids he was an outgoing jabber mouth.

Holly and CJ got married Sept. 20 in the American Fork Temple. Holly is now Holly Hughes. Isn't that cute?

Paul and Adri blessed Chandler the same weekend. I am bummed that I don't have any pics with them. I don't even have any pics of when Luca got blessed. We forgot to take pics. So sad! I also put a pic from when Holly got her endowments in Manti. Jake participated while I stayed with Luca outside. The Manti temple holds a special place in our hearts because both Jake and his family and my family got sealed in Manti way back before we knew each other. I was very young, but I remember my new dress and staying in the nursery. Even though I was too young to understand much, I remember feeling how special and exciting of a time it was.

All tuckered out

I can't believe it has been so long since I've posted! Time goes by so fast. These pics are old already. I need to get better at blogging. I really am going to try much harder (I know I've said it before). I joined Facebook, but that seems to be too time consuming. People send things to you and I feel guilty when I don't send things back. I much prefer the blog because I can post when I want and not feel obligated to anyone in particular. We had a very busy weekend that I will post about in a couple of days, promise!

Mount Sneffels

We attempted camping and hiking last weekend, but the weather was rainy. Here are a couple pics of our cutie. Luca loves the outdoors- he's so my child! Sneffels is the first 14er that Jake and I hiked together (with my papa and Molly). It is right outside of Ouray. It is absolutely beautiful. It was pouring so we don't have many pics.

I should've commented under my slide show, but I forgot. I am happy to announce the arrival of my new little nephew, Chandler Andrew Nye. He was 9 lbs. 4 oz.! It is so fun to see how different the cousins look. Chandler is the first baby on the Nye side with lots of dark hair. As you may have noticed, the rest of my parents' grandbabies are all blond with blue eyes and not much hair. Fun! I also added a couple pics of when we went to Daniel's boot camp graduation in Kentucky and some more miscellaneous pics.

I want to say thanks to all who commented on our blog, it is good to know you are out there. I noticed comments on pics that had been posted for awhile as well as on my last blog (where I whined). My sister Molly, brother Paul and our neice, Aspen, all share the same birthday. We celebrated at Highline Lake. Paul could not make it because he has been working in Phoenix. I love seeing his little face peep out from under his hood! It was very cute because Jake and I went to the visitor's center and Luca was charming the lady helping us. Luca is very social.

Life update

I am behind on posting for a combination of reasons. One, had a molar pulled (aren't I too young for that?); two, went to Kentucky for Daniel's boot camp graduation (Luca on a plane at 2 1/2 months was an experience!); and three, I love holding my little boy so much my hands aren't free a whole lot (I get lazy when I do have a free moment). Regarding number three, I am finally putting Luca in a crib and trying to put him in it for naps and bed time. I am not always successful. Last night, for ex., he slept with Jake and me. Jake said he likes to hear Luca breathe because it is cute and he likes spending time watching TV in bed with me (we don't have much time together otherwise). When I put Luca to bed in his room at night it seems to take forever! Everytime I think he's asleep, he wakes back up. We also have a problem because Luca WILL NOT take the bottle or pacifier. That's right, you guessed it, I am both the feeder and the comforter. This just started about three weeks ago when I had my tooth pulled. Everything I have read said that until babys are four months old you can't spoil them because they don't understand, and that they aren't capable of "pulling it together" on their own to fall asleep. Welp, that will be in three more weeks. Things are going to change! Of course, I talk big, but then I look at that amazing, precious little guy and my heart melts. I still tear up when I look at him. I have so much love for Luca that even I am surprised. I do need to get him to take the bottle soon, however, because I got a job teaching childbirth classes and there is LOTS of training required to become certified. I also want to become a licensed doula. I need Jake to be able to help out! He tries, but just physically can't fulfill all of Luca's desires. I told Jake that his son is just like him-stubborn. Gotta love 'em both, I guess! I have two new people that commented on my blog-Darcy and the Walkers. I am so happy to have friends to add to my list!! To my other friends- you can join anytime! Or at least comment once in awhile! Love you all!

Jake decided to dress up to be professionally good looking. Look carefully and you will him doing blue steel and magnum. We are currently inventing a new pose for Jake called purple thunder. Stay tuned... This is the night I started going into labor. It was a memorable Christmas Eve for us!

Me and my boy! I had an ultrasound Wed. and got to bring mama bear (my mom). We are still having a boy, he was happy to show it off to us. Mom said that is how Daniel was. It was neat because there was a lot of detail. We could see the four chambers of the heart. The baby has been dropped for awhile now and looks good to go. My last final is Tues. so I am ready anytime after that. Mom is hoping it'll be on Daniel's bday, the 19. We'll see...

Jake's surprise bday party

Aubrey and I tried surprising Dad for his bday. Jake is always very thoughtful and does little surprises for us all the time, but we have yet to really surprise him. This time we almost did it! Jake didn't know until about an hour before we were to leave. If Jake didn't ask so many question it would've worked, too. Jake was quite spoiled this bday. For those of you who don't know, we have bday week, invented by none other than Jake himself. Whether it be a little treat, a nice back rub, or cleaning the bathrooms (one of my past requests), we each get something each day leading up to our bdays. It is a swell tradition. I added these two pictures separate from the slide show because I wanted to explain what is happening here. Jake was teaching Takara how to give wet willies and poor Mom was the target. Sorry, Haley! We had a lot of fun. I hope the music with the slide show isn't annoying to anyone. I just figured out how to do the slide show this morning and felt like experimenting. I messed the blog up when I tried adding words to the slide show, so I still have some learning to do. I figured it works fine to add the description to this blog entry this time. We missed all of our family that doesn't live in town. Of course, if all of you came there would be no way to fit us all in! Love you guys!

Our trip to Las Vegas

Jake surprised me with a trip to Las Vegas earlier in Oct. We needed one last trip before the baby. We saw Phantom of the Opera and loved it. I think Jake liked it even more than me, which I think is cool. We also spent time with our friends Rory and Anndee Taylor. It was fun to see them and their kids. Here we are at the Hard Rock Cafe.

This is the day we had our ultra sound and found out we're having a boy. He is the first grandson on Jake's side. Jake's grandfather was happy to find out the Raymond name would continue. The name would have ended with Jake because he is the only grandson on his side with the last name Raymond. I am happy the pressure is off!
